On the 31st, Buk Changwon Nonghyup held a shipment ceremony at the Buk Changwon Nonghyup Agricultural Products Distribution Center to commemorate the first export of Changwon persimmons to the Philippines.
Attending the ceremony were Park Hyodo, head of Buk Changwon Nonghyup, Kang Mungyu, deputy head of the Nonghyup Economic Headquarters Gyeongnam Branch, and Kim Gapmun, head of the Nonghyup Central Association Changwon City Branch.

The shipment volume exported to the Philippines on this day was 819 boxes of 10 kg each, worth approximately 17 million KRW, and the export target for this year is planned to be between 100 and 200 tons.
This year’s export conditions for persimmons are very difficult. Due to spring cold damage, summer heatwaves and heavy rains, and autumn monsoons, anthracnose disease has severely affected the persimmons, causing this year’s harvest volume to decrease by more than 70% compared to the previous year, making it difficult to secure export quantities.
Since it is hard to recover once the export market is lost, Nonghyup and exporting farmers are enduring losses caused by the price difference between domestic and export prices in order to maintain the export market.

Head Park said, “This export launch is very meaningful amid the great difficulties caused by poor persimmon crop conditions due to abnormal weather,” and added, “Despite the challenging conditions, we will protect the export market through win-win cooperation with export companies.”
