"Innovation Committee Handling Nomination Rules Is Overstepping"
In Yohan, the Innovation Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated on the 28th regarding the first agenda item to lift the disciplinary actions against former representative Lee Jun-seok and others, "(Former representative Lee and others) were very hurt," adding, "I need to ease their minds, and that is my job."
In the interview with Yonhap News TV on the same day, Chairman In said, "We need to meet once, twice, three times to resolve this." Regarding the speculation about Lee Jun-seok forming a new party, he said, "That is outside of our work," but added, "It probably wouldn't be good for the parties involved or for us."
When asked whether the Innovation Committee plans to handle the nomination regulations, Chairman In responded, "It would be an overreach for the Innovation Committee to handle the nomination rules one by one," and stated, "However, laying the foundation and groundwork that leads to nominations is definitely something we must accomplish."
Regarding his remark that stars from Yeongnam should come to difficult constituencies in Seoul, Chairman In said, "I have never specified anyone, nor will I," adding, "It is something the party and the election committee should decide, and it would be an overreach for the Innovation Committee to do so."
