Ulsan Ulju-gun Conducts '2023 Disaster Response Safe Korea Training'
On the 27th, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City conducted the ‘2023 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill’ to strengthen disaster response capabilities.
This drill was carried out to establish an on-site response system among related organizations for hazardous chemical and dangerous material leakage accidents that may occur in the Onsan National Industrial Complex, in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s basic plan for disaster preparedness training.
Unlike last year, this year’s drill connected the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and the field in real-time via ‘ZOOM’ to conduct a response drill assuming an actual disaster occurrence.
A total of about 250 people from 15 organizations, including Ulju-gun, Namulju Fire Station, Ulju Police Station, Ulsan Chemical Disaster Joint Prevention Center, Unit 7765, 53rd Division Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Battalion, and the Ulsan branch of the Korean Red Cross, participated in the drill, which included both field and discussion exercises.
The field drill started at Isu Chemical Onsan Plant and involved related organizations and companies participating around the Ulju-gun Integrated Disaster Site Support Headquarters to conduct fire suppression and life rescue operations in response to a large-scale complex disaster.
At the same time, the Ulju-gun Disaster Safety Situation Room held a situation assessment meeting regarding the disaster, and under the chairmanship of Ulju-gun Governor Lee Soon-geol, the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters was formed to conduct a discussion drill.
The discussion drill reflected the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s key points, checking the cooperation system among related organizations at each situation stage and seeking solutions to major issues and anticipated problems in accident response through a problem-solving approach.
