Brand Licensing Europe and China Licensing Expo
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency recently operated a Korean joint pavilion at Brand Licensing Europe and China Licensing Expo, facilitating 512 consultations and generating consultation amounts of 58 million USD (approximately 78 billion KRW), the agencies announced on the 27th.
Brand Licensing Europe is the largest B2B (business-to-business) licensing exhibition in Europe, attended by global character intellectual property (IP) stakeholders. The Korean joint pavilion included ten companies: The Pinkfong Company, Devsisters, Redio, Roy Visual, Lotte Home Shopping, Studio Vandal, Studio Acorn, Arimoa, Aurora World, and Cheongdam Media. They conducted 234 business consultations with over 300 buyers, recording consultation amounts of 14 million USD.
In particular, Aurora World signed partnerships for edutainment licensing distributing digital content to European educational institutions and for the distribution of the TV series and YouTube content of "YooHoo & Friends." Roy Visual also signed a broadcasting and licensing business contract for "Robocar Poli" in the Middle East with MBC, the largest media entertainment group in the Middle East. A representative from KOCCA stated, "All companies received significant attention, including Devsisters signing a licensing contract for 'Cookie Run' fashion apparel and accessories in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa with Diffused, a major European fashion licensee."
Clear achievements continued at the China Licensing Expo, where a Korean joint pavilion was set up for the first time in four years. Twenty domestic character and licensing companies participated, recording export consultation amounts of 44 million USD. Notably, Graphics, Mostapes, iForm, Clark House, and Korea Educational Broadcasting System conducted pitching sessions to expand their businesses such as overseas distribution, providing detailed information about their IPs. The progress of companies aiming to re-enter the Chinese market also stood out. iForm signed a licensing contract utilizing the "Tomamon" IP, and Merrybus Studio signed a memorandum of understanding related to copyright product purchases with Yiwu Yihuanghui Co., Ltd., a local licensing distribution and product manufacturing company.
