Uisikju Company Launches 'Laundry Innovation Lab'... Investing in Laundry R&D
Analysis of 50,000 Daily Laundry Items
Strengthening Pre-Wash Area R&D and Applying Solutions
Uisikju Company (CEO Seongwoo Jo), which operates the mobile laundry service Laundrigo, announced on the 27th that it will establish a research institute called 'Laundry Innovation Lab' to enhance technological innovation and customer-perceived quality through research and development (R&D) investment under the slogan "Laundry is Science."
Laundrigo currently processes 40,000 to 50,000 laundry items daily, automatically sorting laundry using an AI-based style scanner and accumulating and analyzing related data. Uisikju Company plans to systematically strengthen R&D across all areas of laundry, including washing, drying, ironing, and stain removal, by utilizing Laundrigo's accumulated data and applying technology-based solutions to innovate the perceived quality level experienced by customers.
The Laundry Innovation Lab has selected three main focus areas: ▲ development of precise laundry diagnosis technology based on optics, materials engineering, and machine learning ▲ development of ultra-personalized laundry recipes based on precise diagnosis and classification ▲ development of stain removal solutions that minimize fabric damage while effectively removing stains and contaminants. The lab aims to commercialize these technologies by the first half of 2024.

The Laundry Innovation Lab plans to pursue comprehensive laundry innovation through various partnerships and industry-academic collaborations in the future. Seongwoo Jo, CEO of Uisikju Company, stated, "Customers have not been able to experience consistently high-quality laundry due to reliance on subjective experiences of traditional laundry experts, judgments based on visual or tactile senses, and conventionally passed-down laundry recipes. We will invest generously to provide a higher level of results in customized laundry through ultra-personalization as well as in solving contamination and stains."
