Japanese Go Prodigy Sumire Becomes Korean Guest Professional Player... Official Activities Starting March Next Year
It was announced by the Korea Baduk Association on the 26th that the transfer of Japanese Baduk prodigy Nakamura Sumire (仲邑菫, 14), 3-dan, to Korea has been accepted. On the same day, at the board meeting held at the Korea Baduk Association headquarters on Majang-ro, Seongdong-gu, the application for Nakamura 3-dan to become a guest player was approved, allowing her to participate in all domestic tournaments. Her activities are scheduled to begin in March next year.
Sumire learned Baduk from the age of three under the guidance of her father, Nakamura Shinya 9-dan, a professional player in Japan, and her mother, an amateur Baduk expert. From 2017 to 2019, she came to Korea and studied at the 'Han Jongjin Baduk Dojang,' and at the age of 10 in 2019, she joined the Japan Baduk Association as a special prodigy entrant, becoming the youngest professional player in Japan. Nakamura is the first professional player affiliated with the Japan Baduk Association, known as the homeland of modern Baduk, to transfer overseas.
