Why Did Jeon Cheong-jo Give a Media Interview? Nancy Lang's Lawyer Says "A Big Scheme to Extort Money"

"Anyone can be deceived, so always be suspicious"
Former national fencing athlete Nam Hyun-hee is causing shock as it has been confirmed that Jeon Cheong-jo, whom she revealed as her remarriage partner in a media interview, is actually a woman and a convicted fraudster. Jeon deceived Nam by introducing herself as a "third-generation chaebol illegitimate child," "born in the United States," and a "former equestrian athlete."
However, shortly after the media interview was released, netizens who claimed to have spent their school days with Jeon raised suspicions, and with the release of the fraud conviction documents, it quickly became clear that Jeon had been habitually engaging in fraudulent activities.
Regarding why Nam believed Jeon's flimsy lies, lawyer Son Su-ho warned, "Anyone can be deceived." Son previously served as the legal representative for pop artist Nancy Lang, who divorced after legal battles stemming from a fraudulent marriage.

Regarding Jeon's claim of being an "illegitimate child of Paradise Group," Son explained, "It's a very classic method often used by fraudsters," adding, "Because it involves the hotel and casino industries, information was more limited compared to other famous chaebol families."
Son speculated on the background of Jeon's decision to give a media interview despite the risk of her past being exposed: "It seems she drew up a big plan to exploit the famous athlete Nam Hyun-hee to engage in a fencing business together and extort money from someone, even at the risk of such danger."
Son also noted similarities between this case and the Nancy Lang case he previously handled. However, in Jeon's case, "Sometimes she approached women as a man to commit fraud, and other times approached men as a woman. This time, she boldly revealed her face and appeared before the public as a fianc?," highlighting that switching genders to commit fraud is a unique aspect.
