Namhae-gun's Representative Tourist Destination, German Village, Making a New Leap Forward
Expansion of Hardware and Software through Military and Tourism Foundation Collaboration
‘Dokilmaeul,’ renowned as a representative tourist destination in Namhae-gun, is making a second leap forward through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s public contest project, the ‘Planned Contest-type Regional Tourism Development Project.’
Gyeongnam Namhae-gun and the Namhae Tourism and Culture Foundation have been evaluated as an excellent project area by expanding both hardware and software in line with the founding purpose of Dokilmaeul through collaboration, and riding this momentum, they have secured additional funding, signaling a positive outlook for next year’s projects.
From the basic planning stage of the contest project, Namhae-gun established a cooperative system with the Tourism and Culture Foundation, receiving high evaluations. Namhae-gun has been expanding various infrastructure, while the Tourism and Culture Foundation has been dedicated to developing and operating tourism content.
Namhae-gun carried out projects such as ▲expanding Dokilmaeul Plaza and renovating surrounding facilities ▲establishing the Dokilmaeul Support Center ▲remodeling the interior of Bayreuth to ensure the successful hosting of the ‘11th Dokilmaeul Beer Festival.’
Following this, from next year, they plan to actively expand larger-scale infrastructure projects including ▲construction of an observatory ▲new construction of Imbiss (German-style snack bar) ▲plaza floor maintenance ▲renewal projects for Fachwerk (traditional German-style architecture) and the Pa-dok Exhibition Hall.
The Tourism and Culture Foundation is intensifying efforts in tourism content development and operation, further elevating the status of the ‘Dokilmaeul Beer Festival.’
Before the festival, they operated the ‘Dokilmaeul Pop-up Promotion Center’ in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, attracting 3,300 visitors to raise awareness of Namhae-gun and Dokilmaeul.
Additionally, they completed the development of 15 official Dokilmaeul souvenirs to support revenue generation for local businesses in Dokilmaeul, along with trademark and design rights applications.
They are also promoting the official Dokilmaeul music development project, which strengthens the atmosphere of Dokilmaeul using auditory marketing techniques. Through the creation of branding music such as a short and easy-to-remember Dokilmaeul sound logo (jingle), beer festival parade song, Dokilmaeul beer song, Dokilmaeul carol, and the Lorelei song reflecting the hardships of Pa-dok miners and nurses, they plan to make Dokilmaeul more familiar to visitors.
Moreover, content development projects such as ▲development of objects and props ▲Dokilmaeul hotel project ▲official website development will be rapidly promoted to ensure effectiveness.
Thanks to these achievements, Namhae-gun secured 2.25 billion KRW (national funds basis) for next year’s project budget despite nationwide reductions in local allocation tax and the sunset and budget cuts of public contest projects.
Furthermore, the Beer Festival was selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘Local 100,’ which promotes excellent local attractions, content, and masters externally.
