Polestar Launches 2024 Polestar 2 Model... Driving Range of 449 km
Polestar is launching the 2024 model of its mid-size electric sedan Polestar 2 and will start sales on the 26th. The newly released model year Polestar 2 has switched to rear-wheel drive to maximize driving performance. Additionally, the driving range has increased to a maximum of 449 km on a single charge.
The maximum output of the Polestar 2 Single Motor has been upgraded to 299 hp, an increase of 68 hp compared to the previous model, and the maximum torque has increased by 16.3 kg·m to 50 kg·m. The top speed has also improved to 205 km/h, and the acceleration time to 100 km/h has been shortened by 1.2 seconds to 6.2 seconds compared to the previous model. Furthermore, even with the same 78 kWh lithium-ion battery capacity as the previous model, the energy efficiency has improved, achieving a driving range of 449 km per charge, which is 32 km longer.
The Long Range Dual Motor also provides an excellent driving experience based on the new rear-wheel drive motor. Unlike the previous model with permanent all-wheel drive (AWD), the connection to the front motor is disengaged when maximum output is not required, maximizing efficiency. The maximum output has increased from 408 hp to 421 hp, and the maximum torque has improved from 67.3 kg·m to 75.5 kg·m. The acceleration time to 100 km/h has also been shortened by 0.2 seconds to 4.5 seconds. The maximum driving range per charge has increased by 45 km to 379 km.
Polestar continuously improves vehicle functions and adds various advanced features through wireless software updates (OTA·Over-The-Air). Notably, the Polestar 2 is equipped with the T-map infotainment system, the first of its kind in electric vehicles. This system supports electric vehicle-specific solutions by utilizing Seoul’s Intelligent Transportation System (C-ITS), providing real-time traffic light information guidance within the city and charging station guidance based on remaining battery during driving.
Polestar offers the Polestar 2 with the personalized voice recognition AI platform NUGU 2.0, a web browser capable of web surfing and video streaming services, and the T-map Store, which includes various apps such as news. By the end of the year, it plans to introduce the online video streaming service Wavve and an in-car payment system.
The price of the optional Plus Pack has been reduced from 5.39 million KRW to 4.9 million KRW. The Pilot Pack with Pixel LED headlights and the Performance Pack remain unchanged at 2.99 million KRW and 6.49 million KRW, respectively.
