Jeon Gyeong-won, Daegu City Council Member, Elected Vice President of the Council of Chairpersons of City and Provincial Assembly Operation Committees
Jeon Gyeong-won, Chair of the Operations Committee of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, was elected as the Vice President for the second half of the 10th term at the 2nd Regular Meeting of the Council Chairpersons of Cities and Provinces of the Republic of Korea held in Daejeon on the 24th.
Through this regular meeting, the appointment of Councilor Jeon Gyeong-won as Vice President, along with the formation of the executive team for the second half of the 10th term, including the Secretary-General and Policy Committee Chair, was completed.
Councilor Jeon Gyeong-won was elected as Vice President of the Operations Committee in recognition of his professional legislative activities demonstrated while serving as Chair of the Education Committee and Operations Committee of the Daegu Metropolitan Council since 2018, as well as his demonstrated harmony and leadership as a member of the Operations Committee over the past year.
Chair Jeon Gyeong-won stated, “Based on my experience in legislative activities and ability to foster harmony, I will dedicate myself to the development of local autonomy together with the chairpersons of operations committees nationwide,” emphasizing that “empathy and resolution of issues concerning Daegu are as important a responsibility as local development.” He also promised to do his best to build a nationwide consensus for resolving Daegu’s current issues.

The Operations Committee consists of chairpersons of operations committees from 17 metropolitan councils nationwide (12 from the People Power Party and 5 from the Democratic Party of Korea). It discusses joint matters among city and provincial councils, exchanges necessary information for council operations, and strives to solve common challenges of local councils and promote the development of local autonomy.
