Ulsan Public General Secondary School Teacher Appointment Competition Rate 9.3 to 1
Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 25th that the application period for the ‘2024 Academic Year Secondary Teachers, Health, Librarian, Professional Counselor, Nutrition, and Special (Secondary) Teacher Candidate Selection Competitive Examination’ has ended, with a competition rate of 9.3 to 1 for public general secondary teachers and 17.4 to 1 for private schools.
For public secondary teachers, 724 applicants (714 general, 10 disabled) applied for 85 positions (77 general, 8 disabled), while private schools received 87 applications for 5 positions. Among them, 27 applicants applied exclusively to private schools (competition rate of 5.4 to 1), making the total number of applicants 751.
This year’s competition rate for secondary subjects was 9.4 to 1, which is 1.9 points higher than last year’s 7.5 to 1, but the competition rate for comparative subjects and special (secondary) teachers was 8.9 to 1, lower than last year’s 11.4 to 1.
For disabled teachers selected through a total quota system, 10 applicants competed for 8 positions, showing a competition rate of 1.3 to 1, while special (secondary) teachers had the highest competition rate at 6 to 1.
By subject, Korean had the highest competition rate with 83 applicants for 5 positions, at 16.6 to 1, while Construction had the lowest with 13 applicants for 3 positions, at 4.3 to 1.
For private schools, 60 applicants applied as their second choice to corporations through simultaneous applications to public and private schools, and the acceptance of applicants will be determined according to each private school’s selection method.
Among the applicants, 577 (76.8%) were female and 174 (23.2%) were male. The youngest applicant was a 21-year-old female, and the oldest was a 59-year-old male.
Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education disclosed the final competition rates for the ‘2024 Academic Year Secondary Teachers, Health, Librarian, Professional Counselor, Nutrition, and Special (Secondary) Teacher Candidate Selection Competitive Examination’ on the morning of the 25th at 10 a.m. on the education office’s website.
The location for the first exam will be announced on November 17 at 10 a.m. on the education office’s website, and the first written exam will be held on November 25.
Ulsan Office of Education will provide necessary accommodations according to the type and degree of disability for applicants with disabilities or pregnant women who requested convenience, ensuring no difficulties during the exam.
The number of successful candidates for public schools will be 1.5 times the planned number of recruits per subject, and for private schools, 5 times the number specified in the entrusted status by school corporations. In case of ties at the cutoff score, all tied candidates will be accepted.

The announcement of the first successful candidates for public schools will be available on December 28 on the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education website under ‘Administrative Information - Exam Announcements,’ and for private schools, it can be confirmed through each school corporation.
