Jindo-gun Holds Public Event for 6 Province-Designated Intangible Cultural Heritage Items

Jindo County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Hee-soo) will hold public events for six types of intangible cultural heritage designated by the province.

According to the county on the 25th, the provincially designated intangible cultural heritage includes △Jindo Buknori △Jindo Manga △Jindo Hongju △Namdo Japga △Jindo Sopogeolgeun Nongak △Jodo Datbae Norae, totaling six types.

Jindo County, the only folk culture and arts special zone in Korea, is a region where diverse and rich cultural heritages are passed down, including UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritages such as Ganggangsullae, Arirang, Nongak, and five types of national intangible cultural heritage.

This public event will showcase the skills honed by the inheritors of each cultural heritage, focusing on the transmission sites of each heritage.

Recently, starting with Jindo Manga and Jindo Sopogeolgeun Nongak in Jisan-myeon, a public event for Jodo Datbae Norae will be held in Jodo-myeon on the 25th.

A representative from the Jindo County Culture, Arts and Sports Department said, “We expect this public event to be an opportunity to widely promote the true value of Jindo’s culture and arts,” adding, “We will actively support efforts to promote the value of Korean culture and arts beyond Jindo.”
