First Visit of Korean President to Qatar
Attends Summit Meeting and Business Forum Schedule
President Yoon Suk-yeol departed for Qatar, the second state visit country on his tour, after completing a 3-night, 4-day state visit to Saudi Arabia on the 24th (local time).
On the same day, President Yoon left for Doha, Qatar, through the Royal Terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
President Yoon arrived at the airport wearing a navy suit with a brown tie, while First Lady Kim Keon-hee wore a beige suit with a black blouse.
The farewell ceremony was attended by Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al-Muqrin, Governor of Riyadh; Khalid Al-Faleh, Minister of Investment; and Park Jun-yong, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the honor guard lined up from the tarmac to the airport building to see President Yoon off.

As the first schedule of his visit to Qatar, President Yoon plans to visit the International Horticultural Expo held in Doha to tour the exhibitions, including the Korean Pavilion. The International Horticultural Expo is being held under the theme "Green Desert, Better Environment," and Korea is operating the Korean Pavilion showcasing excellent smart agriculture technology.
On the following day, the 25th, he will hold a summit meeting with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and attend a state luncheon together. Afterwards, he plans to encourage participants through the Korea-Qatar Business Forum, attended by 300 businesspeople from both countries. For the final schedule in Qatar, he will visit Education City, which claims to be the educational hub of the Middle East, and engage in dialogue with young Qatari leaders.
As President Yoon is the first Korean president to make a state visit to Qatar, it is expected that economic cooperation will expand in various fields. In an interview with the local state news agency published on the same day, President Yoon stated, "We intend to expand the areas of cooperation, which have so far focused on energy and construction, to include investment, defense, agriculture, culture, and human exchange," adding, "To this end, we will diversify strategic communication channels between the two countries."
President Yoon also said, "Qatar is our second-largest LNG supplier, and stable energy supply has been a strong pillar for Korea to maintain energy security amid global supply chain changes," and evaluated, "Landmarks involving Korean companies, such as the Qatar National Museum and Lusail Plaza Tower, are recognized as symbols of friendly cooperation between the two countries."
