Gokseong-gun, All-Out Effort to Secure National Budget for Current Projects
Visit to Honam Region Budget and Accounts Special Committee Offices for Securing National Funds
Lee Sang-cheol, the governor of Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is making every effort to secure national funding for the next year.
From the 23rd to the 24th, Governor Lee visited the National Assembly to explain the 2024 government budget proposal and actively requested cooperation to include major local projects.
He visited the National Assembly Budget and Accounts Special Committee (Chair Seo Sam-seok, Secretary Kang Hoon-sik, Member Park Sang-hyuk), local district lawmaker Seo Dong-yong, and Honam region lawmakers Lee Byung-hoon and Lee Gae-ho in succession to emphasize the necessity of current projects.
The key projects discussed that day included the installation of sewage pipelines in the Gokseong public sewage treatment area (total project cost 5.6 billion KRW), the installation of the Samgi public sewage treatment plant (total project cost 15.7 billion KRW), and the maintenance of sewage pipelines in the Suriji district (total project cost 6.4 billion KRW).
Additionally, a meeting was held in Yeouido with the Budget Committee and representatives from the Jeollanam-do Gokseong, Gurye, and Jangheung regions. They requested continued interest for regional development and shared the intention to establish a close cooperative system among the regions to jointly resolve local issues.
Governor Lee Sang-cheol of Gokseong said, “In preparation for the current government’s fiscal austerity, we will continue proactive efforts to secure the budget and devote all our efforts to the development of Gokseong-gun. We will build a close cooperative system with the Budget and Accounts Special Committee and local district lawmakers during the upcoming National Assembly budget review to strive for additional inclusion and increase of the government budget proposal.”
Previously, Gokseong-gun achieved securing 34.4 billion KRW in the government budget review for projects such as the improvement of National Road No. 27 and the rural village sewage maintenance project in the Chimkok Guseong district.
