Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, stated this on the afternoon of the 24th at the 4th meeting of the Government-wide Promotion Support Group for New National Industrial Complexes held in the main conference room of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

View original imageAt the meeting, presided over by the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, officials from related central government ministries, 11 provincial and city vice governors responsible for national industrial complexes, 12 heads of basic local governments, industrial complex-related organizations such as LH, and industry representatives attended. They discussed the current status of new national industrial complex promotion, major pending issues, and proposals for regulatory improvements.
Mayor Hong said, "In line with the government's promotion goals, we will secure effective demand by signing MOUs with large and medium-sized enterprises so that we can apply for the preliminary feasibility study within this year and prepare thoroughly to ensure smooth approval in 2024."
He added, "The 'Changwon Defense and Nuclear Fusion National Industrial Complex' will establish a new-concept industrial complex by creating state-of-the-art large-scale joint research facilities for tenant companies, attracting R&D-focused public institutions, and concentrating institutions for training high-level talent," and emphasized, "We will prepare meticulously to ensure the successful establishment of the industrial complex."

Changwon Special City plans to promptly proceed with the preliminary feasibility study, lifting of development restriction zones, and approval of the industrial complex plan for the planned site of the Changwon Defense and Nuclear National Industrial Complex in Buk-myeon, Uichang-gu, and Dong-eup areas through multi-ministerial cooperation.
