A Man in His 70s Working on Store Exterior Wall in Changwon Falls from Ladder and Dies
A man in his 70s who was performing metal fixing work on the exterior wall of a commercial building in Changwon, Gyeongnam, fell from a ladder and died.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the police on the 24th, at around 10:20 a.m. on the 21st, Mr. A, who was installing metal panels on the exterior wall of a commercial building in Seoseong-dong, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, fell from the top rung of the ladder he was standing on.
Mr. A fell about 1.5 meters down and suffered severe injuries to his head and chest. He was transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away.
Mr. A was known to be a day laborer affiliated with a small construction company in Changwon.
The accident site is reported to be exempt from the Serious Accidents Punishment Act as the construction amount was below 5 billion KRW, and currently, a work stoppage order has been issued by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor has confirmed that Mr. A was not properly equipped with safety gear such as a helmet at the time of the accident and is investigating violations of the Industrial Safety and Health Act, including compliance with safety regulations and the exact circumstances of the accident.
