Goryeong-gun Holds Sangmusa Autumn Ancestral Rite Ceremony
Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Lee Nam-cheol) held the Sangmusa Autumn Memorial Ceremony at 11 a.m. on the 23rd at the Sangmusa Memorial Hall located in Goa-ri, Daegaya-eup, with over 50 institution heads and members in attendance.
This Sangmusa Autumn Memorial Ceremony was solemnly conducted with Jeong Cha-sik, Sangmusa Bansu, serving as the primary officiant, Jeon Jeong-man, Sangmusa member, as the secondary officiant, and Jeon Ui-nam, Sangmusa member, as the tertiary officiant.
The Sangmusa Memorial Ceremony is a ritual held on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month and the 9th day of the 9th lunar month at the Sangmusa Memorial Hall to honor the achievements of the former Bansu and Seonjeopjang of the Goryeong Sangmusa, which has a tradition spanning over 150 years, and to promote camaraderie among members as well as to inherit and develop the tradition.

Jeong Cha-sik, Sangmusa Bansu and primary officiant on the day, expressed gratitude to the members who prepared the memorial ceremony, stating, “Through the annual spring and autumn memorial ceremonies, we will strive to honor the achievements of the Bansu and Seopjang, which are fading from memory, and to pass on the history and spirit of the local merchants.”
