It was reported that President Yoon Suk-yeol met with Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman Al Saud and National Guard Minister Abdullah bin Bandar Al Saud on the 23rd (local time) to discuss ways to enhance defense and defense industry cooperation between the two countries.
The Saudi side expressed hope to collaborate with Korea on next-generation defense industry projects, proposing comprehensive cooperation including technology collaboration and joint production. Earlier, Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, stated in a local briefing that "large-scale defense cooperation discussions with Saudi Arabia are in the final stages across various fields such as air defense systems and firepower weapons."
Meanwhile, SonyD’s defense subsidiary, Defense Korea, produces explosive detection robots and other equipment. Notably, Defense Korea’s robots are equipped with the world’s first 99% recoil-free explosive disposal equipment. Regarding explosive detection equipment, Defense Korea recently signed an export contract with an Indian company and is reportedly in export negotiations with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
