Shinsegae Duty Free Holds 'Donghaeng' Briefing Session for Chinese Travel Guides
Shinsegae Duty Free announced on the 24th that it held a 'Donghaeng' briefing session for Chinese travel guides at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul on the 23rd. The briefing was attended by 100 Chinese group travel guides affiliated with Shinsegae Duty Free.
After the Chinese government allowed group tours to Korea on August 10, local Chinese travel agencies conducted extensive market research by visiting Korea, and based on this, they began developing and selling travel products for their citizens to visit Korea.
Travel guides play roles such as managing schedules, meals, shopping, introducing tourist attractions, leading, and interpreting to ensure that group tourists visiting Korea through Chinese travel agencies have a safe and enjoyable trip from entry to departure. Therefore, tourists' decisions on whether to visit duty-free shops and their impressions are determined by the guides' guidance and leadership.
At the Shinsegae Duty Free guide briefing, information was provided about Shinsegae Duty Free, including the large sculpture 'Y' by Carsten H?ller and other artistic content, as well as the brands and promotions available. Quizzes and prize events were also held for the attending guides. In particular, many brands such as LG Household & Health Care, Amorepacific, VDL, Lunasol, Swiss Perfection, Sku, Andar, Janmang Loopy, and Archive APK participated to promote their products.

Park Sang-wook, head of overseas sales, said, “There was feedback from guides that Shinsegae Duty Free’s unique experiential content, brands, and services have developed to meet the changing needs of Chinese tourists. As Korean tourism infrastructure such as Korea-China air routes, hotels, restaurants, and tour buses is in the process of recovery, we expect normalization within 2024.”
