North Korea Incites Anti-US Sentiment Over Israel-Hamas Conflict
Following Commentary by Korean Central News Agency, Foreign Ministry Director Issues Statement
"Entirely America's Fault... Accomplice in Mass Killing"
North Korea has condemned the armed conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas as a "tragedy entirely caused by the United States." It appears to be escalating its anti-American rhetoric by exploiting the unstable international situation.
Jo Cheol-su, director of the International Organizations Bureau at North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mentioned in a statement released on the 23rd that a recent UN resolution calling for 'humanitarian access' to the Gaza Strip was vetoed by the United States, arguing that "the United States is proven to be an accomplice in mass slaughter, a mastermind of human rights violations, and the enemy of peace in the Middle East."

He further asserted, "The international community must raise its voice in condemnation of the United States, which is condoning and encouraging the massacre of civilians and the humanitarian catastrophe."
Earlier, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) discussed a resolution on the 18th (local time) urging humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip, but it failed after the United States exercised its veto, citing the absence of any mention of Israel's right to self-defense in the resolution.

Previously, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) also claimed in a commentary released that morning that the "(armed conflict) is a tragedy entirely caused by the United States," and argued that "due to the United States' biased and deliberate incitement, large-scale slaughter is intensifying in the Middle East." North Korea characterized the visits of U.S. President Joe Biden, as well as the Secretaries of State and Defense to Israel, and the deployment of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier near Israel, as "actively inciting war."
Regarding the failure of the UNSC resolution, North Korea also criticized, "(The United States) completely destroyed even the smallest opportunity to prevent the worsening of the situation," and added, "Once again, the zealous observer European allies, lacking any independent thinking or backbone, are echoing the United States."
