Ecopro "Former Chairman Dong-chae Lee's Shares Hacked and Sold... Police Report Filed"
A Third Party Attempts to Withdraw Payment After Selling 2,995 Shares... Worth 2.5 Billion KRW
EcoPro announced on the 23rd that it recognized the suspicion that former Chairman Lee Dong-chae's personal information was hacked to sell stocks and withdraw the proceeds, and requested an investigation by the police.
EcoPro recently received notification from the securities firm handling former Chairman Lee's transactions that 2,995 shares of EcoPro stock held by him were sold over three days on the 16th, 17th, and 19th of this month. The total amount was approximately 2,498.78 million KRW.
EcoPro claimed that former Chairman Lee did not sell the stocks voluntarily. They explained that they became aware of the matter through information received from the securities firm.
To prevent further damage, EcoPro suspended payments on all accounts of former Chairman Lee and requested a police investigation.
EcoPro disclosed the sale by the special related party, former Chairman Lee Dong-chae, on the same day to fulfill the disclosure obligations under the Capital Markets Act. EcoPro stated, "The name and account information were unauthorizedly used by a third party, and the sale was made without the reporter's consent. As of the report submission date, an investigation is underway based on the reporter's damage report, and this disclosure may be corrected depending on the investigation results and consultations with relevant departments."
