Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Gwangsan MusicON Festival a Great Success
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 23rd that the 1st Gwangsan MusicON Festival, ‘Healing Hi, Feeling High!’, held over two days from the 21st at Hwangryong Chinsu Park, successfully concluded with over 70,000 spectators.
The festival’s format and content, where families, couples, and friends spread out mats and enjoyed various performances, diverse attractions, and food as if on an outing, received positive responses, confirming its potential to develop into a representative local festival.
The great success of the first Gwangsan MusicON Festival was largely attributed to the strengths of the venue, Hwangryong Chinsu Park.
The wide open grassy fields and the beautiful scenery of the Hwangryonggang Jangnok Wetlands, adorned with blooming cosmos flowers, harmonized with the festival’s diverse content, creating a feeling as if escaping the city and daily life to enjoy a picnic.
The ‘Picnic Zone’, installed for citizens’ comfortable rest and relaxation, quickly filled with 50 tents as many people gathered from early hours. The ‘Mulmeong Bitmeong Zone’ and emotional lighting installed throughout the festival site completed the autumn atmosphere, captivating the hearts of citizens.
The ‘Music Festival’ held on the main stage heated up the festival atmosphere with the participation of leading domestic singers and bands such as Imujin, Kim Gitae, Pyeonchi, Jeon Geonho, Kyungseo Yeji, Ulala Session, and Romantic Punch.
From heart-touching songs to dynamic and exciting stage performances, the citizens’ cheers never ceased.
Alongside the ‘Mat Zone’ where people enjoyed performances sitting on mats, the ‘Standing Zone’, where attendees could fully express their excitement close to the stage, was very popular.
The 32nd Gwangsan Residents’ Day commemorative ceremony, held in conjunction with the festival under the slogan ‘Drawing a Sustainable Future of Gwangsan with Citizens’, attracted attention with speeches by citizen representatives and a spectacular fireworks display.
The 32nd Yong-A Baekiljang, held to honor Park Yongcheol, who led the pure poetry movement to protect the Korean language and resist Japanese colonial rule, was also held.
The 1st National Youth Dance Competition, showcasing the talents and skills of young dancers nationwide dreaming of becoming future representative dancers of Korea, left a strong impression.
Street performances (busking) by local artists, the citizen-participated ‘Flea Market Zone’, and the food zone offering delicious food and beverages also attracted many visitors.
The ‘Delivery Zone’, designed to facilitate easy exchange of delivery food, received thumbs-up from attendees.
Coexistence with the local commercial district also shone brightly.
Throughout the festival site, local restaurants offering delivery services promoted their names and phone numbers, and citizens who presented receipts from using local businesses were given priority admission tickets to the ‘Standing Zone’.
Thanks to these efforts, nearby commercial districts enjoyed a ‘festival effect’ with sales increasing by more than 20-30% during the festival period.
