[2023 National Audit] Oh Se-hoon: "Regarding the Special Act on Aging Cities, We Should Be More Cautious Than Opposed"
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon stated regarding the Special Act on Aging Planned Cities, "If exemptions from safety inspections are granted, there are concerns about reckless reconstruction," adding, "Our position is that caution is needed rather than opposition."
At the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee's audit on the 23rd, Mayor Oh emphasized in response to a question from Jang Cheol-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, about the Special Act on Aging Planned Cities, saying, "The consensus on safety is something that cannot be emphasized enough."
The Special Act on Aging Planned Cities is currently pending in the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee's subcommittee. The Seoul Metropolitan Government expressed concerns about the special act, stating worries about reckless reconstruction if safety inspections are exempted, resource waste, and a speculative frenzy.
