BMW Ladies Championship Concludes... Minji Lee Wins
The BMW Ladies Championship 2023, the only LPGA tournament held in Korea, successfully concluded. In the final round, Minjee Lee clinched the victory after a fierce playoff against Alison Lee.
On the 23rd, BMW Korea announced the successful completion of the BMW Ladies Championship 2023, held over four days from the 19th to the 22nd of this month at the Seowon Hills Course of Seowon Valley CC in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
Since becoming an official LPGA Tour event in 2019, the BMW Ladies Championship has featured playoffs in every tournament except one. This year’s event also showcased world-class players delivering memorable moments.
In the final round held on the 22nd, Minjee Lee and Alison Lee engaged in a fierce playoff, with Minjee Lee ultimately winning with a total score of 16-under-par 272. This victory marked Minjee Lee’s 10th LPGA Tour win and her first win in Korea.
The performance of amateur players specially invited to nurture promising Korean female golfers continued for the second consecutive year. Last year, Min Sol Kim finished in the top 10 with a final round total of 10-under-par, and this year, Seo Jin Park also completed the tournament with a final score of 10-under-par.
BMW Korea emphasized the eco-friendly significance of sustainable future values during this tournament. To convey the message of 'sustainability,' BMW prepared its pure electric models, the BMW i5 and BMW i7, as hole-in-one prizes. Approximately 100 flagship pure electric sedan i7 vehicles were deployed as premium official service cars, provided along all routes including players’ and caddies’ accommodations, the tournament venue, and parking lots.
Additionally, BMW Korea arranged various convenience services to create an optimal viewing environment for the gallery. For family groups, an Oktoberfest Zone offering diverse food and beverage services was set up around the 17th hole, an official tournament course. The 'BMW X Camping Zone,' where visitors could enjoy the feel of car camping, was operated, and the Gallery Plaza hosted the 'Mobile Junior Campus,' which converted the interior of an 11.5-ton truck into a laboratory for science education experiences.
Furthermore, befitting a premium automobile company sponsoring the event, BMW showcased a variety of luxury class vehicles reminiscent of a motor show. At the 18th hole, where the ceremony took place, the 'BMW i5,' the first pure electric model in the new 5 Series lineup, was exhibited. The 'i7 M70 xDrive' and 'XM Label Red,' unveiled for the first time at this tournament, also attracted the attention of the gallery.
