Mayor Park Hyung-jun and Superintendent Ha Yun-su Attend to Discuss Educational Issues
Busan City will hold the ‘2023 Second Half Education Administration Council’ with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education on the 23rd at 4 p.m. in the City Hall video conference room.
This Education Administration Council was organized to promote progressive changes in education administration and resolve educational issues through mutual cooperation between Busan City and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education.
About 20 officials, including Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, city council members, and other related personnel, are expected to attend the meeting.
The ‘Education Administration Council,’ where Busan City and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education meet, has been held twice a year to efficiently promote issues such as establishing a system for nurturing local talent and student safety.
At the meeting, before discussing agenda items, the city and the education office will first sign the ‘Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation-Based Customized Local Talent Development Agreement Linking Middle and High Schools.’
So far, Busan City has been continuously consulting with the education office to build a regional collaboration system through the ‘Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project (RIS)’ selected by the Ministry of Education, to promote local innovation led by local governments, including preparing university education innovation plans, and to establish and support growth paths for local talents such as vocational high school graduates.
Accordingly, through today’s agreement, the two institutions promised to strengthen joint cooperation in customized local talent development linking middle and high schools based on industry-academia-government cooperation, and to create a regional development ecosystem that aligns customized talent development with local industrial demand and connects employment and entrepreneurship to local settlement.
Following this, Busan City and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will have in-depth discussions on a total of 13 proposed agenda items.
Busan City proposed eight agenda items, including ▲promotion of improvement projects for school zones, ▲request for budget support for school sports, ▲cooperation in utilizing the site of the planned closure of the Busan Archives building, ▲cooperation in utilizing the site of the planned closure for the creation of a children’s complex cultural facility, ▲promotion of cooperation projects for talent development among the education office, universities, and companies, ▲cooperation for proactive response to the Education Free Zone, ▲request for temporary operation of Bujeon Library using part of the Play Maru, and ▲cooperation in establishing the Busan Environmental Experience Education Center.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will request five items from the city, including ▲review of the relocation site for the new education office building, ▲consultation on the 2024 statutory transfer budget allocation, ▲continued use of one floor of Busan Global Village, ▲support for the site for the (tentatively named) Student Marine Training Center, and ▲linking Morning Change (體仁智) with the city’s status as a sports paradise.
In particular, the city plans to discuss strengthening the ‘Industry-Academia-Government Cooperation System,’ which it has continuously proposed and promoted, so that Busan City can present a nationwide leading model of public education innovation and lead national education innovation.
