Clear Autumn Weather... Peak Foliage Season Begins on Seoraksan from the 23rd
Throughout the week, the entire country will experience clear skies and fully autumnal weather, bringing the foliage into its peak season. The number of visitors to major mountains nationwide is also expected to gradually increase.
On the 23rd, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that the country will generally be clear with significant temperature differences between day and night. Morning low temperatures this week will range from 7 to 15 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs will be between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than the average (morning lows 3 to 13 degrees, daytime highs 16 to 21 degrees).
As the fully autumnal weather continues, the foliage will reach its peak. Except for the central region, most areas will experience clear weather, making it ideal for outings. The peak foliage season at major mountains nationwide will officially begin this week, starting with Seoraksan (23rd), followed by Wolaksan (27th), Jirisan (27th), and Hallasan (29th).
The brief cold snap that arrived last weekend will subside, but the temperature difference between day and night is expected to widen to 10 to as much as 15 degrees Celsius, especially inland. On the 23rd, morning temperatures are expected to be between 4 and 13 degrees Celsius, with highs ranging from 18 to 22 degrees Celsius, similar to the average. Expected maximum temperatures include Seoul 20°C, Incheon 20°C, Chuncheon 19°C, Gangneung 22°C, Daejeon 21°C, Daegu 22°C, Jeonju 21°C, Gwangju 21°C, Busan 22°C, and Jeju 22°C. In northern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and inland Gyeongbuk, morning temperatures will drop to around 5 degrees Celsius, causing the temperature difference to widen to 10 to 15 degrees Celsius in some places.

From the 24th, known as Sanggang, when "frost begins to fall," the country will generally experience clear weather. A meteorological official explained, “With a low chance of precipitation, the entire country will remain clear and warmer than usual.” However, some regions will see rain. On the afternoon of the 23rd, raindrops are expected to fall in various parts of the central region, and from the morning of the 24th, rain will spread from the metropolitan area and northern Chungnam to the entire central region. The rain will continue until the early morning of the 25th before stopping. Other areas are expected to maintain mostly clear weather.
