How Were They Recruited... Officials Who Received an 'Investment Special Lecture' from a Jeonse Fraud Suspect
Special Lecture for Daegu City Hall Officials Nearing Retirement
Instructor: Real Estate Brokerage CEO Mr. A
Under Police Investigation for Jeonse Fraud Allegations
A suspect under police investigation for jeonse fraud controversy held investment lectures targeting civil servants nearing retirement. Victims criticized both the media company organizing the training and the Daegu City Hall, where the suspect gave the lectures.
According to Yonhap News on the 20th, Mr. A, a real estate brokerage CEO accused of jeonse fraud in Daejeon, conducted investment lectures for civil servants about to retire in Daegu on the 12th and 13th.
Mr. A lectured under the theme "Special Know-how to Protect 100% of Investment Funds." This lecture was part of a retirement preparation education program for civil servants organized by a media company in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.
The problem is that Mr. A was accused last month by tenants of evasion of compulsory execution and fraud. He is the CEO of B Industrial Development and the landlord of an urban-style residential complex in Bongmyeong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
So far, 31 people have filed complaints against him, with damages amounting to approximately 4 billion KRW. Including tenants with remaining contracts, the scale of damage is expected to increase further.
The Daejeon Police Department is currently investigating the extent of damages related to Mr. A’s charges through a rights analysis of all tenant households.
Victims who heard about Mr. A’s lectures were outraged. Some filed complaints titled "We report Daegu City Hall for receiving lectures from a jeonse fraud perpetrator" on the National Petition System and sent protest faxes to the media company organizing the training.

Another victim said, “I was very angry when I heard that Mr. A was giving lectures,” adding, “Is it reasonable for someone criminally accused of jeonse fraud to lecture civil servants?”
They also pointed out, “Isn’t it a comedy that a person who says ‘I can only return the deposit if a new tenant moves in immediately because there is no money now’ is giving investment know-how lectures?”
The Human Resources Development Center of the media company explained in a phone call with Yonhap News, "We had no idea that Mr. A was under investigation."
