Pyeongtaek City and Pyeongtaek Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office Collaborate on Infrastructure Development Around Pyeongtaek Port
Administrative Cooperation Meeting Held
Gyeonggi-do Pyeongtaek City and Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office have agreed to cooperate for the maintenance of the Pyeongtaek Port area and the early establishment of infrastructure.
Pyeongtaek City announced on the 19th that it made this promise at the 'Administrative Cooperation Meeting' held with the Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office at the city hall's comprehensive situation room on the 18th. The two organizations have been holding administrative cooperation meetings since 2015, and this year's meeting was held for the first time in two years due to the impact of COVID-19.

At the meeting, Pyeongtaek City explained seven agenda items: ▲signing an agreement to create waterfront spaces ▲utilization of the western pier wharf (dock) ▲employment succession of special security personnel at the international passenger terminal ▲installation of solar panels on the breakwater of the Pyeongtaek Port reclamation site ▲changing the project schedule for the early expansion of National Road No. 38 ▲extension of the temporary cargo parking lot usage permit at Pyeongtaek Port ▲creation of a green belt along the west coast.
The Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office explained ▲management plans for public facilities adjacent to the drainage channels of Pyeongtaek and Dangjin Ports ▲management after the completion of urban planning roads ▲maintenance of urban management plans for port facilities, and discussed efficient management methods for facilities around the port.
In addition, the two organizations stated that they will mutually strive to revitalize passengers and new routes following the scheduled completion of the new international passenger terminal and to create an environmental improvement in the surrounding area.
Jung Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek City, said, "Although Pyeongtaek Port is an international port, the surrounding infrastructure is underdeveloped, so there are many issues to be resolved. We will carry out the development of the hinterland without delay and foster it as a logistics hub in Asia."
