Fire Trucks Unable to Access 93 Locations in Incheon During Fire... 10 Sites Lack Emergency Fire Extinguishing Devices
There are 93 locations in Incheon where fire truck access is difficult, and among them, 10 places do not even have emergency fire extinguishing devices.
According to data submitted by the National Fire Agency to Jeong Woo-taek, a member of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee from the People Power Party (Cheongju Sangdang) on the 19th, there are a total of 766 areas nationwide where fire truck access is impossible or difficult. Among these, 134 locations (17%) are inaccessible to fire trucks, and 632 locations (83%) are difficult to access.
By city and province, Seoul accounts for 329 locations (43%) with 101 inaccessible and 228 difficult access points, followed by Busan with 112 locations (15%), and Incheon with 93 locations (12%), with major cities making up more than half of the total.
Among the areas where fire truck access is impossible or difficult, 110 locations (14.4%) were found to lack emergency fire extinguishing devices capable of initial firefighting. The installation rates of emergency fire extinguishing devices in inaccessible or difficult access areas by city and province were lowest in Chungbuk (50%), Gyeonggi (42.9%), and Sejong (20%), respectively.
In particular, among the 93 inaccessible or difficult access locations in Incheon, 10 places do not have emergency fire extinguishing devices installed and are instead equipped with fire extinguisher boxes. Regarding this, the Incheon Fire Headquarters explained, "There is some opposition from residents due to limited space when installing emergency fire extinguishing device boxes," and added, "We have created management cards for fire truck access obstruction areas and installed 'visible fire extinguisher boxes.'"
Assemblyman Jeong emphasized, "It is not a matter of relying on fire extinguishers for human lives and property," and stressed, "Measures should be promptly prepared to secure fire truck access routes and ensure that at least minimum emergency fire extinguishing devices are installed."
