Government to Accelerate 'CFE Initiative'... Plans to Develop Certification System and Programs
Discussion on the 'CFE Initiative Promotion Plan' at the Meeting of Relevant Ministers
The government has decided to establish a certification system that can verify the use of Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) and to launch the CF Alliance as the driving force, as well as to develop a CFE program.
On the 19th, the 30th Ministerial Meeting on National Issues, chaired by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, discussed the 'CFE Initiative Promotion Plan.' The meeting covered the future direction of CFE promotion, the activity plans of the CF Alliance, and cooperation measures among related ministries for prompt implementation.
The CFE Initiative is a global movement that actively utilizes CFE to promote decarbonization in the energy sector, with the private-sector-led CF Alliance serving as the core organization leading this effort.
The CFE Initiative Promotion Plan includes ▲establishing a certification system to recognize carbon-free energy used by companies ▲developing a 'CFE Program' (tentative name) containing membership requirements, certification standards, annual targets, and disclosure procedures similar to RE100 ▲agenda-setting of the 'CFE Initiative' through meetings with major countries and international conferences/events to facilitate global expansion of CFE ▲encouraging participation of major global companies in the CF Alliance through various outreach events ▲and strengthening Korea's role in the international community by promoting international joint research and expanding cooperation to support developing countries' transition to carbon-free energy.

Therefore, I ask related ministries to make the best use of available resources and cooperate organically.”
