Hwaseong-si Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Banwol Library

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 18th for the construction project of the 'Banwol Library (tentative name)' located within Banwol-dong Nano City Park.
The Banwol Library will be built within Banwol-dong Nano City Park, spanning from one basement floor to three above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 4,315㎡. The construction budget is 19.5 billion KRW, and the library is scheduled to open in 2025.
The library will consist of a general reading room, children's reading room, book caf?, open stage, preservation storage, and cultural classrooms. The concept is a 'library harmonized with the park,' organically connected to the surrounding ecosystem and designed as an open space for various age groups to enjoy together.
About 100 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, Hwaseong City Council Vice Chairman Oh Mun-seop, provincial and city council members, and citizens.

Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun said, "Banwol Library is Hwaseong City's first citizen-participatory library, with a construction committee composed of eight residents involved from the early stages," adding, "We will carefully oversee the project to ensure the Banwol Library opens without any setbacks."
