Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, Attends Disability Art Exhibition 'A Journey Through Art'
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the 2023 Disabled Artists Exhibition "The 13th Journey Through Art" held at the Mapo Central Library Gallery on the afternoon of the 18th and took time to appreciate the artworks.
Hosted and organized by the Mapo Disabled Welfare Center, the event featured 50 pieces of artwork created with great dedication by over 30 disabled artists, delighting the visitors.
To encourage local interest in disabled artists and nurture disabled artists, artists participating in the exhibition were recruited starting in February. From March, the artists showcased diverse artistic worlds in fields such as ceramics, oil painting, general art, crafts, and calligraphy over approximately eight months.
The exhibition runs until the 20th and aims to improve residents' awareness of disabilities while fostering positive self-identity among the artists.

After viewing the exhibition, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, stated, “Judging by the exhibited works alone, the artistic quality and individuality are so outstanding that one cannot perceive the boundary between disabled and non-disabled artists. I hope many people will appreciate the artworks created by the artists throughout this year, and Mapo District will continue to support disabled individuals to actively engage in the cultural and artistic fields.”
