Shin Yudong, President of Huvis, "Accelerating Development of High-Value-Added Materials for Electric Vehicles"
18-20th KINTEX 'SoBuJang Root Technology Expo'
Showcasing Key Electric Vehicle Parts and Automotive Materials
Huvis, a specialized chemical fiber material company, announced on the 18th that it will participate in the '2023 SoBuJang (Materials, Parts, Equipment) Root Technology Exhibition' held for three days until the 20th at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, introducing key materials for electric vehicle parts and automotive materials.
The SoBuJang Root Technology Exhibition is the only comprehensive industrial value chain exhibition in Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It is being held for the third time this year, following 2021 and 2022. About 280 companies, including SoBuJang Top Companies, specialized complex anchor companies, and government agencies, are participating, and approximately 15,000 visitors are expected.
Huvis, selected as a 3rd-term SoBuJang Top Company in March this year, plans to showcase its 'meta-aramid electrical insulation paper,' which is used as a core material for key electric vehicle parts such as batteries, motors, and generators, at this exhibition.
Shin Yudong, CEO of Huvis, said, "Following our selection as a SoBuJang Top Company, it is meaningful to introduce not only meta-aramid electrical insulation paper but also various eco-friendly and high-performance automotive products through this exhibition." He added, "We will accelerate the development of high value-added materials through various public-private collaborations, including with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy."
Meta-aramid electrical insulation paper can enhance the safety of electric vehicle occupants due to its high heat resistance, flame retardancy, and excellent insulation properties. Currently, all insulation paper used domestically is fully dependent on imports.
Huvis succeeded in commercializing meta-aramid for the first time in Korea in 2009 and also developed insulation paper, which requires more advanced technology than fibers, achieving global top-level performance and certifications.
Meta-aramid electrical insulation paper can be applied not only to electric vehicles but also expanded to various industrial fields such as electrical and electronics, energy and environment, and aerospace. Huvis has set a goal to become the global 'number two' company by 2028 by expanding into the global market beyond Korea.
