MFDS Intensifies Inspection of Online Sales of Agricultural and Marine Products
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 18th that it will collect and inspect 300 agricultural and marine products distributed online over five days from the 23rd to the 27th.
The Ministry plans to test 180 agricultural products such as sweet potatoes and pumpkins sold on specialized online agricultural and marine product shopping malls for residual pesticides, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. Additionally, 120 marine products such as clams and anchovies will be inspected for compliance with veterinary drug usage standards and food poisoning bacteria to verify conformity with standards and specifications.
The Ministry explained that this inspection is intended to enhance safety management as purchases of agricultural and marine products through online shopping malls increase.

Products deemed non-compliant after inspection will be banned from sale, then recalled and disposed of. A Ministry official stated, "To prevent recurrence, we plan to conduct education and publicity targeting producers and business operators of non-compliant items."
