GNS Eco Holds Strategic Meeting with Micron, the 3rd Largest Semiconductor Manufacturer in the World
G&B S Eco is making a move into the Singapore semiconductor scrubber market, which has been dominated by Japanese companies.
On the 18th, G&B S Eco announced that it will hold a strategic meeting in Singapore for the export of eco-friendly semiconductor scrubbers in collaboration with Micron Technology (hereinafter Micron) Singapore Fab.
G&B S Eco plans to make every effort to enter the Singapore market through collaboration with Micron Singapore. Currently, scrubber equipment in Singapore is led by Japanese companies. According to the company, G&B S Eco's scrubber equipment has higher competitiveness in eco-friendly technology, such as achieving carbon neutrality, compared to existing Japanese equipment.
Micron is known as one of the top three global memory semiconductor companies alongside Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. It ranks third in the DRAM market share and fifth in the NAND flash market share. Headquartered in the United States, it has a research and development (R&D) center there and mainly produces semiconductors at factories in Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan. In particular, it owns two NAND flash production bases in Singapore. It is currently listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with a market capitalization of approximately 102 trillion KRW and sales of about 5 trillion KRW as of last year.
Additionally, since the second half of this year, G&B S Eco has been discussing collaboration for the supply of eco-friendly scrubbers with STMicroelectronics Singapore, the largest semiconductor manufacturer in Europe. Currently, at the request of STMicro Singapore, a semiconductor scrubber demo unit is being produced for testing. After testing, the demo version equipment is expected to proceed to final large-scale order negotiations.
A company official stated, “In addition to Micron Singapore, we have been holding strategic meetings with global leading companies related to semiconductors and solar energy such as Onsemi Czech in the EU, Micron USA, and X-Fab and Silterra in Asia. Also, as many companies are replacing existing burn-type scrubbers with plasma-type scrubbers to reduce carbon emissions, interest and inquiries about G&B S Eco’s plasma scrubbers are increasing, so we expect to benefit from replacement demand.”
