Daewoo E&C Donates 3 Billion VND for Visually Impaired in Vietnam
Daewoo E&C announced on the 18th that it will donate 3 billion VND (approximately 17 million KRW) over three years to the "Community Development Program" supporting visually impaired people in Vietnam through the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

View original imageThe donation event held on the morning of the 17th at the MPI headquarters was attended by key Daewoo E&C officials including Kim Bohyun, Executive Vice President, Shim Sangcheol, Labor Union Chairman, and Ahn Gukjin, Head of Vietnam THT Corporation, as well as prominent Vietnamese figures such as Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, MPI Vice Minister, and Do Van, Director of the Foreign Investment Department. Daewoo E&C’s donation will be used over three years to operate social adaptation programs for visually impaired people in Vietnam, support employment in social enterprises, and provide necessary supplies for people with disabilities.
Kim Bohyun, Executive Vice President of Daewoo E&C, stated, “Daewoo E&C has established an ESG management system to become a 100-year company and realize the sustainability of future communities. Since entering Vietnam, Daewoo E&C has consistently pursued co-growth by contributing to local communities, and we will continue our efforts to fulfill our responsibilities as a member of Vietnamese society.”

Meanwhile, Daewoo E&C entered Vietnam in the 1990s, before the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and has carried out various projects such as the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel. Currently, it is developing Starlake City, the first Korean-style new town in Hanoi, Vietnam, and is also participating in residential development projects in Phu Quoc, a recently spotlighted tourist destination. A representative of Daewoo E&C’s THT Corporation said, “Daewoo E&C is promoting second and third Starlake City projects not only in Hanoi but also in other regions such as Ho Chi Minh City, and plans to expand into infrastructure and renewable energy projects.”
