According to a survey, the best-selling snack in Korea last year was Nongshim's 'Saewookkang,' Korea's first snack.

View original imageOn the 17th, according to the Food Industry Statistical Information of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), the top-selling snack last year was 'Saewookkang,' and the top-selling ice cream was Lotte Wellfood's 'World Cone (61.7 billion KRW).' For beer and soju, OB Beer’s 'Cass' and Hite Jinro’s 'Chamisul' took the lead, while dumplings were led by CJ CheilJedang's 'Bibigo (215.3 billion KRW)' and kimchi by Daesang's 'Jongga (134.1 billion KRW).'
Last year, Saewookkang's retail sales amounted to 133.3 billion KRW, accounting for 7.01% of total snack sales.
Following Saewookkang were Orion's Pokachip (92.1 billion KRW), Nongshim Kellogg's Pringles (86.1 billion KRW), Lotte Wellfood's Kkokkalcorn (83.9 billion KRW), Orion's Squid Peanut (67.6 billion KRW), Haitai Confectionery's Matdongsan (56.4 billion KRW) and Honey Butter Chip (46.9 billion KRW), and Orion's Kkobuk Chip (46.2 billion KRW).
In the biscuit category, Haitai Confectionery's Home Run Ball achieved the highest sales with 89.1 billion KRW (8.4%).
The top-selling half-baked chocolate cake was Orion's Choco Pie (88.9 billion KRW), and the top chocolate product was Lotte Wellfood's Pepero (124.3 billion KRW).
For milk, Seoul Milk Cooperative's Seoul Milk led with 786.9 billion KRW, and for fermented milk, Binggrae's Yoplait ranked first with 180 billion KRW.
In liquid coffee, Lotte Chilsung Beverage's Cantata showed the highest sales with 274.2 billion KRW.
For seasonings, CJ CheilJedang's Dasida was the most popular with 101.3 billion KRW.
In the beer category, Cass dominated with sales of 1.5773 trillion KRW, followed by Hite Jinro's Terra (615.1 billion KRW), Hite Jinro's Filite (239.4 billion KRW), Lotte Liquor's Kloud (222.6 billion KRW), Heineken Korea's Heineken (135.3 billion KRW), BeerK's Tsingtao (131.9 billion KRW), Hite Jinro's Hite (123 billion KRW), and OB Beer’s Budweiser (109.2 billion KRW).
For soju, Hite Jinro's Chamisul overwhelmingly led with sales of 1.1985 trillion KRW, followed by Lotte Liquor's Chum Churum (355.4 billion KRW), Hite Jinro's Jinro (292.9 billion KRW), Muhak's Good Day (179.6 billion KRW), and Geumbokju's Matitneun Cham (86.4 billion KRW).
A food industry official explained, "Processed foods tend to maintain steady popularity for the top product because consumers usually continue purchasing the same product once they find it suits their taste, rather than switching to other products."
