Seoul Archives, Video Tape to Digital Conversion Service
Experience Cost Free
The Seoul Metropolitan Archives announced on the 17th that it will hold an experiential event called 'Replaying the Memories of Seoul Citizens' at the Archives from the 6th to the 10th of next month.
The Seoul Metropolitan Archives explained the purpose, saying, "Many citizens have analog video tapes (VHS) but do not have players to view the content. We have prepared an event to digitize these video tapes, which people wanted to watch but could not, so they can be taken out and viewed."
Reservations can be made through the Public Service Reservation system. The experience is free of charge, and any citizen residing in Seoul can participate. However, each person can only bring up to two tapes, and only four people per day, totaling 20 people over five days, can directly participate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additionally, the Seoul Metropolitan Archives will operate a service to convert citizens' analog video tapes into digital files. Applications will be accepted starting from the 30th of this month. The service will end once 200 tapes (up to two per person) are received on a first-come, first-served basis.
