In the AI Era, 'Power K-Women' Speak on the Ladder of Change and Growth
Special Lectures by Neuroscientists and Successful Entrepreneurs
Discussion on Women’s Leadership in 3 Sessions
Introducing 41 Barrier-Breaking 'Power K-Women'
The global economy is struggling with the three highs (high interest rates, high inflation, and high oil prices). Amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, the outbreak of war between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas has further raised red flags for the world economy. Recently, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced the global growth forecast for next year at 2.9%, a downward revision of 0.1 percentage points from the previous estimate. The economic situation in South Korea is also precarious, as export recovery remains slow and external conditions continue to worsen.
Despite such uncertainties, innovation continues. OpenAI's 'ChatGPT,' which debuted at the end of last year, is expected to dramatically improve productivity and bring about a major transformation in the industrial ecosystem. Goldman Sachs analyzed that generative AI will drive 7% growth in the global economy over the next decade and impact 300 million jobs.
The future is expected to change distinctly and more rapidly than in the past. This is why big tech companies at home and abroad, including Google and Microsoft, are fiercely competing in the AI technology war following the launch of ChatGPT. As AI touches all fields such as economy, industry, politics, and education, the ability to understand and utilize AI has become more important. Diversity is increasingly vital to prevent reinforcement of biases or discrimination against minorities during the process of using AI, which learns and reasons from vast amounts of data. Moreover, how humanity adapts and responds to clearly different changes from the past?such as the flood of fake content and job displacement?has emerged as a crucial challenge to solve.
Amid growing economic uncertainty and the whirlwind of a great transformation into the AI era, the role and leadership of women in wisely coping with these changes and seeking solutions to various side effects have become even more important. Accordingly, the '2023 Women Leaders Forum' organized by Asia Economy is expected to be a place to share the wisdom of women’s leadership that can overcome the current crisis and wisely respond to the great transformation. Now in its 12th year, the 2023 Women Leaders Forum will explore the roles and directions for women amid the massive wave of the AI revolution under the theme 'The Era of Super-large AI ? Women Change the World.'
At this forum, Professor Kim Dae-sik, a leading neuroscientist from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), will deliver the keynote speech on 'Changes and Opportunities in the Era of Generative AI.' Professor Kim, who earned his Ph.D. in neuroscience from the Max Planck Institute and studied brain cognitive science at MIT, is currently researching AI at KAIST and is recognized as an expert well-versed in both the human brain and machine brain. He will discuss the changes we will face in the generative AI era, the opportunities and challenges ahead, and how to respond. Writer Kim Ji-soo, a professional interviewer and author of works such as 'The Last Lesson of Lee O-ryeong,' will moderate the session with Professor Kim.
Writer Lim Kyung-sun, author of 'To Be Free' and 'On Attitude,' will give a special lecture titled 'Living as a Unique Being.' Lim will share insights on how to maintain uniqueness, which has been the secret to her 18-year-long career transformation from marketer to writer. She will discuss the driving force that allowed her to continue creating works despite being a cancer patient, her attitude toward coping with rapidly changing environments, and the mindset that helped her firmly protect herself amid various temptations and changes.
Lee Mi-so, CEO of Gamjabat, famous for 'Potato Bread' in Chuncheon, which has been breaking explosive sales records every year, will also be a special speaker. Under the theme 'Turning Weakness into Strength: Growth Mindset,' Lee will share her entrepreneurial journey of perseverance that led to an astonishing annual sales achievement of 20 billion KRW within three years of starting her business. She will convey through her experience that current success was not achieved overnight but is the result of continuous challenges, failures, and getting back up, sharing what is truly necessary to walk the path to success.
Additionally, three sessions?AI Session, Power K-Women Session, and Women Leadership Session?will gather prominent experts from various fields to discuss women’s leadership needed in the AI era, secrets to growing as powerful women, and the female outside director system.
In the AI Session, female leaders heading AI divisions in major domestic companies will participate to share their views on 'The Path Women Leaders Should Take in the AI Revolution.' Bae Soon-min, head of KT Convergence Technology Institute, will present, with Jeon Jin-soo, former CEO of Superlabs, moderating. Panelists include Oh Soon-young, head of KB Kookmin Bank’s Financial AI Center; Kang Seo-young, executive director of CJ AI Center; and Son Byung-hee, executive director of Mind AI.
The Power K-Women Session will cover 'Discovering and Growing Your True Self.' Moon Woo-ri, CEO of Fortify, will present, with Lee Yeon-sil, CEO of Storyteller, moderating. Panelists include Kang Shin-sook, president of Sh Suhyup Bank, and director Lee Gil-bora.
The Women Leadership Session will discuss the female outside director system. Lee Ji-yoon, advisor at FleishmanHillard, will present, with Kim Yunis, former professor at Ewha Womans University Law School, moderating. Panelist includes Song Soo-young, attorney at law firm Sejong.
