$2.3 Million MOU and On-site Contracts Signed
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 16th that it successfully held the '2023 Malaysia K-Food Fair' from the 11th to the 15th to expand exports and promote consumption of Korean agricultural and food products.
On the first day of the fair, the 11th, the 'K-Food Fair B2B Export Consultation' was held at the Sunway Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, where a total of 237 export consultations worth 20 million USD took place between 56 local key purchasing companies (buyers) from Malaysia and Singapore and 30 domestic agricultural and food export companies. Among these, 22 agreements and on-site contracts worth 2.3 million USD were signed.
Visitors showed great interest not only in fresh agricultural products such as apples, pears, and persimmons but also in beverages like omija syrup and soy milk, as well as children's snack products such as deer antler konjac jelly. In particular, the halal Korean beef promotion booth attracted buyers' attention, confirming the potential for Korean beef to enter the local market.
From the 13th to the 15th, the 'Business-to-Consumer (B2C) event' was held for three days at Sunway Pyramid, a large shopping mall near downtown Kuala Lumpur, offering various agricultural and food product experiences such as demonstrations of kimchi-based sauces and stir-fried noodles using gochujang. Approximately 40,000 people visited the event. Nabila Ami, who attended the event, said, "I am happy to participate in this event where I can experience various Korean cultures and foods, and I will strive to promote Korean culture more widely in Malaysia through my experience as a K-Food supporter."
Meanwhile, to link the promotion of Korean agricultural and food products to consumption, the event operated an on-site sales booth together with major importers, and simultaneously held K-Food promotional events at 47 local large retail stores.
