I AM "KaiTu Technology Enters Vietnamese Market with 'AI Anti-Drone'... Expanding Global Market Share"
Kaitus Technology (hereinafter Kaitus), a total solution specialist in AI (Artificial Intelligence)-based anti-drone technology, is making a full-scale entry into the Vietnamese market.
On the 16th, IM announced that its partner Kaitus is currently discussing the supply of anti-drone systems and reconnaissance and combat drones through an NDR (Non-Deal Roadshow) targeting major Vietnamese conglomerates.
Kaitus explained, "We are negotiating from an initial simple procurement format to establishing assembly and production facilities locally in Vietnam and directly supplying products."
They added, "There is a strong consensus to expand not only the anti-drone system but also reconnaissance and combat drones," and "We expect positive negotiations soon, as there are indications of willingness regarding technology transfer (LO)."
Kaitus is an official reseller of Fortem Technologies (hereinafter Fortem), a U.S. company that developed an anti-drone system that detects, identifies, and neutralizes unidentified hostile drones invading airspace. Fortem has supplied anti-drone solutions to numerous major international issues and events, including the Ukraine-Russia war, the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and the 2022 Tokyo Olympics.
According to Kaitus, the Vietnamese government is focusing on military modernization with a budget of $2 billion (approximately 2.6 trillion KRW). Earlier, President Yoon Suk-yeol made a state visit to Vietnam accompanied by the largest economic delegation of the current administration, emphasizing the expansion of defense cooperation with Vietnam.
Vietnam, one of South Korea's top three trading partners, is among the world's top 20 arms importers. Its main supplier has been Russia, which has effectively lost its arms procurement channels. Last year, the Vietnamese Prime Minister declared the 'diversification of channels' for arms transactions. Accordingly, Kaitus plans to secure the Vietnamese market and use it as a foothold to expand market share throughout Southeast Asia, including Laos and Cambodia.
A Kaitus official stated, "The Southeast Asian region frequently experiences military conflicts, and countries around the South China Sea and the Philippine Sea are increasing their defense budgets annually due to U.S.-China tensions," adding, "The introduction of anti-drone technology, which has emerged as a game changer in the defense industry, is an essential element for military modernization."
