Around March next year, the final evaluation of Korea's Official Development Assistance (ODA) by the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will be released.
According to the government on the 16th, the OECD DAC is visiting Korea from today (the 16th) until the 20th to conduct a Peer Review of Korea's development cooperation policies and implementation. Based on the results of this on-site visit, the OECD will hold a final meeting at its headquarters in Paris, France, in March next year. At that time, a review report on Korea's ODA will also be published.

View original imageThe OECD DAC conducts mutual reviews of ODA policies and implementation for 4-5 member countries annually to promote improvements in each other's policies and systems. Korea is undergoing its third Peer Review, following those in 2012 and 2017.
During their visit, the DAC delegation will meet with Korean government ministries related to development cooperation (Office for Government Policy Coordination, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and implementing agencies (Korea Eximbank, KOICA). They also plan to gather diverse opinions on Korea's overall development cooperation sector through visits to the National Assembly and Board of Audit and Inspection, as well as meetings with civil society, academia, and private companies.

After completing their schedule in Korea, the DAC delegation plans to visit Uzbekistan, one of Korea's major development cooperation partner countries, to review the local ODA status. The government stated, "We plan to use this Peer Review as an opportunity to further advance our country's ODA policies and systems."
