LG Innotek Secures Three International Standard Patents for 'Electric Vehicle Charging'
Patent on Battery State-Based Charging Control and Time Reservation Technology
LG Innotek has strengthened its business competitiveness in the related market by securing three international standard patents in the electric vehicle charging field.
The company was selected as a licensor by Via LA, a specialized company for standard patent licensing in the electric vehicle charging field. A licensor refers to a party that permits others to use patented technology and receives royalties. Globally, only eight companies, including LG Innotek, GE, Bosch, and Siemens, are registered by Via LA as licensors in the electric vehicle charging field.
The international standard patents recognized for LG Innotek include two patents for charging control technology based on battery status information and one patent for charging time reservation technology. LG Innotek stated, "With this registration, we can accelerate our approach to the electric vehicle parts market."
LG Innotek is actively fostering future car-related businesses as a new growth engine. It is conducting various research and development (R&D) activities, including electric vehicle wired and wireless charging support technologies and power conversion technologies for electric vehicles and external chargers. It has also secured core technology patents in the autonomous driving field. In April, it acquired over 180 patents, including LiDAR technology, from the U.S. autonomous driving startup Argo AI.
