Yangcheon-gu Hosts Multicultural Festival Overcoming Nationality, Race, and Cultural Barriers

Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gijae) announced on the 21st that it will hold the ‘2023 Multicultural Festival,’ where over 500 local residents including multicultural families will come together to enjoy beyond the barriers of nationality, race, and culture at the Sinwol 6-dong Administrative Complex Town.
This festival was prepared under the slogan ‘Multicultural Harmony Festival’ to promote harmony by bringing together multicultural families and local residents in line with the era of globalization. A variety of cultural experience programs will be held, including ▲world food tasting ▲multicultural classes ▲multicultural costume experience ▲traditional multicultural games and crafts.
On the outdoor yard on the first floor, food booths representing different countries such as Vietnam (Ch? gi?), the Philippines (Pansit Bihon), Japan (Dango), and China (Jian tofu salad) will be open, allowing visitors to taste diverse foods from around the world. The family center on the third floor will be set up as a space where parents and children can participate together, offering unique experiential activities.
In particular, visitors can enjoy experiencing traditional games from around the world that are usually hard to encounter, as well as seven types of craft activities including Vietnam (N?n l?), Japan (Ema), Thailand (Elephant mask), Russia (Matryoshka), Mongolia (Ger), and the Philippines (Shell bracelet).
Additionally, multicultural classes conducted by marriage immigrants will be held sequentially for about 40 minutes each by country, including Russia, Mongolia, and Peru, providing a platform for communication to understand diverse cultures. Other side events such as traditional world costume experiences and photo zones are also prepared to create special memories.
The festival is open to anyone interested. For multicultural classes, on-site registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the reception desk on the third floor, and participation in the craft booths is possible without prior registration.
