Former Police Chief Heo Jun-young Passes Away at Age 71
Former Commissioner of the National Police Agency Heo Jun-young was confirmed to have passed away on the 13th. He was 71 years old.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Heo collapsed at his home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon and was transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest, but was pronounced dead around 6:08 PM. It is known that there is no possibility of homicide.
Heo was appointed Commissioner of the National Police Agency in January 2005. However, he resigned after about 10 months, taking responsibility for the death of protesting farmers.

Originally from Daegu, he began his public service career after passing the foreign service exam, but later transferred to the police, serving as the Blue House Security Secretary, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and eventually Commissioner of the National Police Agency.
