'HSE Management Policy' Proclamation Ceremony at Geoje Plant
Hanwha Ocean has revised its ‘Safety, Health, and Environment (hereinafter HSE)’ management policy, which it regards as the top priority in management, to protect the safety, health, and happiness of all employees.
On the 12th, Hanwha Ocean held a proclamation ceremony at its Geoje plant in Gyeongnam to announce the newly revised ‘HSE Management Policy.’ At the ceremony, CEO Kwon Hyuk-woong and union branch chief Jeong Sang-heon, along with labor and management representatives, gathered to reaffirm their commitment to practicing HSE.
The revised ‘HSE Management Policy’ aims to foster a culture where all members can work safely and healthily with HSE as the highest priority. To this end, all members will continuously eliminate HSE risk factors, and management will actively support all necessary resources.
All members pledged their right to work safely and receive lawful treatment, as well as their obligation to comply with the safety rules established by the company. In this process, Hanwha Ocean plans to strengthen the HSE cooperation system through active communication with stakeholders such as employees, partner companies, customers, and local residents.
Through this, Hanwha Ocean intends to fulfill its social responsibilities as a global marine and energy leader company by practicing sustainable eco-friendly management.

Recently, Hanwha Ocean announced its vision to leap forward as a ‘Global Ocean Solution Provider.’ The strategy includes investing 300 billion KRW in the ‘Smart Yard’ sector to secure sustainable competitiveness. The goal is to enhance safety by building an automated smart yard. Productivity will be increased through robotics and automation, and the entire shipyard will be transformed into a massive big data-based smart yard through smart factories and logistics automation. This vision also implies recognizing and pursuing HSE management as the top priority throughout the process of achieving these goals.
Hanwha Ocean aims to strictly comply with the newly revised ‘HSE Management Policy’ to achieve zero major accidents (ZERO) and 100% compliance with environmental regulations. Hanwha Ocean explained, “In this process, we reflected the management responsibility’s commitment to HSE-first management and clarified workers’ participation, rights, and obligations.”
The newly proclaimed ‘HSE Management Policy’ was translated into seven languages, including Mongolian, Vietnamese, and Thai, to support the increasing number of foreign workers. The translated materials are provided via QR codes so that foreign workers can easily access them on their smartphones.
At each production site, frames related to the newly established ‘HSE Management Policy’ will be posted, and from management down to all employees, a leading-by-example attitude will be adopted to garner empathy and ensure that no safety gaps occur in any corner of the production sites.
