Incheon's Representative Song 'Yeonanbudu' Foreign Language Version Album to be Released in December
The popular song "Yeonanbudu," beloved by the citizens of Incheon, has been remade into English, Chinese, and Japanese versions to attract overseas tourists and promote the city's brand.
Incheon City plans to officially release the album "Reimagined : OH! INCHEON," which includes English rock and jazz versions as well as Chinese and Japanese versions of Yeonanbudu, this December.
Yeonanbudu (lyrics by Jo Unpa, composed by An Chihaeng) is a song performed by Kim Trio in 1979 and has long been a representative favorite song of Incheon citizens. Although it has been remade by various musicians over the years, this is the first time a foreign language version remake has been produced.
Among these, the English rock version produced by the punk rock band "the Sound" was released last month. It was showcased at Korea's representative music festival, the "2023 Pentaport Rock Festival," and the K-POP performance "Jamboree with Incheon," supporting the 25th World Scout Jamboree at Saemangeum in 2023, and is currently distributed on domestic and international music platforms.
Additionally, at the pre-performance of the "Incheon Harbor Festa 2023, the 59th Citizens' Day Ceremony" held on the 14th, the English jazz version of Yeonanbudu by "Lim Chaehee x Incheon Concert Chamber" will be presented for the first time. The album containing this song along with the Chinese and Japanese versions will be officially released in December.
An Incheon city official stated, "Since the COVID-19 pandemic, with the revival of overseas tourist visits and international exchange events, there is a need to promote the global city brand of Incheon. We hope that the release of the Yeonanbudu global version album will serve as an opportunity to introduce and communicate Incheon through music not only to multicultural families and foreigners residing in Incheon but also to overseas Koreans."
