Jeon Nam-do Councilor Choi Seon-guk's 'Physical Activity Promotion Ordinance' Passes Standing Committee
Expectations for Expansion of Jeonnam Province's Customized Physical Activity Promotion Project
Choi Seon-guk, a member of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Mokpo 1), who is the chief proposer, had the "Jeollanam-do Ordinance on Encouraging Physical Activity" pass the review by the Health, Welfare, and Environment Committee, the relevant standing committee, at the 375th extraordinary session on the 11th.
Assemblyman Choi proposed this ordinance to disseminate accurate knowledge about the health of Jeollanam-do residents and to establish a foundation for creating an environment conducive to physical activity in daily life.
According to regional health statistics from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the percentage of respondents who reported a decrease in physical activity due to changes in daily life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic was 52.6% in 2020 and 47.3% in 2021.

Assemblyman Choi Seon-guk stated, “After COVID-19, the term ‘Corona Blue’ emerged as social distancing prolonged, leading to a decrease in physical activity, which negatively affected both physical and mental health. I hope that with the enactment of this ordinance, Jeollanam-do will promote various physical activity encouragement projects to contribute to the health improvement of its residents.”
