Daegu Suseong University and Webtoon Company 'Jakga Company' Establish Industry-Academic Cooperation

“Content Market Worth 1 Trillion Won”
Suseong University (President Kim Seon-sun) signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement on the 10th with Jakga Company Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Joeun), a specialized management company for the production and distribution of web novel and webtoon content, to strengthen industry-academic cooperation in web novel and webtoon content creation.
Jakga Company Co., Ltd. was established in 2017 and became a subsidiary of Naver Webtoon in 2022, making it a Naver affiliate. It is a specialized web content management company with a sizable webtoon production studio composed of about 300 web novel writers and 100 employees.
The Department of Webtoon Story at Suseong University and Jakga Company Co., Ltd. agreed to cooperate to support students' debut in response to the growth of the content industry, which is developing into a 100 trillion won market, by inviting writers for special lectures or operating educational programs for nurturing talent in the webtoon and web novel fields, as well as linking employment opportunities.
In the Department of Webtoon Story at Suseong University, sophomore writer Gwang-eo (pen name) debuted on Kakao Page with "My Skeleton is a Tyrannosaurus," sophomore writer Taek-iappa debuted with "My Daughter is a Genius Cartoonist," and graduate writer Tae-seung successfully debuted with "The Returner on the Beat," among others, with students and graduates continuously debuting as web novel and webtoon writers, paving a successful path as writers.
Hong Woo-jin, head of the Department of Webtoon Story, introduced, "Since the Department of Webtoon Story at Suseong University will change its name to the Department of Webtoon and Web Novel in 2024, we are promoting MOUs with various companies."
