Busan Representative Festival Held... Busan City Promotes Hygiene and Safety Management for Accommodations and Restaurants
Busan City is promoting hygiene and safety management for lodging facilities and restaurants until November 4 in preparation for major festivals representing Busan, such as the Busan Fireworks Festival.
As part of the plan, periodic promotional activities and inspections will be conducted focusing on areas near major festival venues and tourist attractions to enhance the hygienic and clean image of lodging facilities and restaurants and to encourage price stabilization.
Earlier, on the 5th, the city conducted a public-private joint food safety promotional campaign targeting restaurants around Busan Station.
Participants in the promotional activities on the 5th shouted slogans such as "No Overcharging (OUT)" and "Hygiene and Courtesy Up (UP)" around Busan Station, carrying out food safety promotion targeting nearby restaurants.
To support this, on the same day, job training was conducted at the Eurasia Platform for 40 consumer food hygiene inspectors.
On the 17th, a public-private joint food safety promotional campaign will also be held around Gwangalli Beach, the venue of the Busan Fireworks Festival, with consumer food hygiene inspectors and others.
In addition, intensive hygiene inspections will continue around lodging facilities and restaurants near the venues of the Busan International Film Festival, Busan Fireworks Festival (Suyeong-gu, Haeundae-gu, Jung-gu), and Busan One Asia Festival (Dongnae-gu, Yeonje-gu, Jung-gu).
Hygiene inspections will also be conducted targeting popular restaurants and cafes near airports, railway stations, parks, recreational areas, and amusement parks frequently visited by tourists in each district and county.
The main inspection and guidance areas include ▲ posting and compliance with price tags inside and outside business establishments ▲ establishment of advanced food culture such as prohibition of reuse of leftover food ▲ hygienic management of handled ingredients and compliance with consumption (distribution) expiration dates ▲ compliance with hygienic handling standards for cooking facilities ▲ on-site hygiene education to prevent food poisoning and strengthen personal hygiene ▲ practice of courtesy by business owners and employees.
In particular, to prevent misunderstandings about lodging and food prices due to overcharging by tourists visiting Busan, guidance will focus on providing accurate information such as posting price tags.
Furthermore, to eradicate overcharging, lodging and food service organizations will be continuously encouraged to take the lead in self-purification efforts for price stabilization, courtesy, and hygiene.
The city has already requested lodging and food service organizations such as the Busan Branch of the Korea Accommodation Association and the Busan Branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association to spread a self-purification atmosphere (from branch headquarters → district/county branches → members) and to conduct voluntary guidance. It also asked for cooperation to strengthen the mindset of courtesy and cleanliness in preparation for welcoming customers during regular hygiene education for business operators.
